      General Courses

Einstein's Course

The Einsteins Course is designed to help primary students develop an in-depth understanding of elementary level math concepts. This foundation inspires confidence for young mathematicians at an early age. In the course, students practice word problems, critical thinking skills with weekly math assignments. The Einsteins also allows students to learn and practice math basics in a one-on-one setting. Prerequisites: None

Pascal's Course

Pascal's Course is designed to help secondary students develop an in-depth understanding of middle school level math concepts including Algebra, Geometry, Critical Word Problems, Trigonometry, and more. This course inspires confidence for young mathematicians and builds on their foundations formed from the primary levels. In the course, students practice word problems, critical thinking skills with weekly math assignments. Pascal's Course also allows students to learn and practice math basics in a one-on-one setting. Prerequisites: None

Pythagoras' Course

Pythagoras' Course is designed to help students develop an in-depth understanding of high school level math concepts including Calculus, Analytic Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Quadratics, and more. This course helps develop mathematicians at the secondary stage. In the course, students practice word problems and critical thinking skills with weekly math assignments. Pythagoras also allows students to learn and practice mathematical concepts in a one-on-one setting. Prerequisites: None

Young Writers

The Young Writers Course is designed to help young students develop an in-depth understanding of sentence composition and expressing written ideas clearly. This foundation inspires confidence for young writers at an early age. In the course, students practice critical thinking skills with weekly reading and writing assignments. The Primary Writing Course also allows students to learn and practice the basics of creative writing and poetry composition. Prerequisites: None

Intensive Creative Writing

The ICW Course supports academic and creative writing skill acquisition for middle grade students. Topics covered in this course include Forming a Thesis Statement, Basic Plot Structure, and Character Development. Prerequisites: None. **Students are also highly encouraged to register for Macbeth Readers, our book club, in conjunction with this course.

Writing Mastery

The Writing Mastery Course further develops academic and creative writing skills. The first goal for this course is to provide students with a more advanced understanding of academic writing. By the end of the Grade 12 course, students will have the skills needed to excel in college essay writing. Once students have mastered essay composition, they will learn how to analyze literature, and how to construct a strong narrative. In this course, students will learn how to excel in creative writing, poetry, and screenplay writing. Topics covered include: How to Construct a Strong Essay, How to Maintain a Formal Tone, and College Essay Writing 101. Prerequisites: Pass the grade level placement exam

Writing Workshop (Competitive Writing)

Our Writing Workshops are specialized courses developed for gifted and talented writers. Our Competitive Writing course is designed to help students write, review, and improve upon competitive writing including short stories, screenplays, and poetry. Appropriate for Grades 6 and up. Prerequisites: None

Writing Workshop (Young Novelists)

Our Writing Workshops are specialized courses developed for gifted and talented writers. Our Young Novelists course is designed to help students write and publish their first novel. Topics within this course include Worldbuilding, Character Development, and Plot Structure. Appropriate for Grades 7 and up. Prerequisites: None

Young Readers

The Young Readers Course is designed to help young students develop an in-depth understanding of what they are reading and how to apply common literary themes to everyday life. This foundation inspires confidence for young readers at an early age. In the course, students practice critical thinking skills with weekly reading and writing assignments. The Primary Reading Course also allows students to learn and practice the basics of literary analysis. Prerequisites: None.

YA Reading

The YA (Young Adult) Reading Course supports reading comprehension skill acquisition for middle grade students. Topics covered in this course include Investigating Plot, How to Read a Shakespearean Play, and Comparisons across Genres. Prerequisites: None Students are also highly encouraged to register for Macbeth Readers, our book club, in conjunction with this course.

The Classics

The Classics Course further develops academic reading skills. The first goal for this course is to provide students with a more advanced understanding of academic reading and literary analysis. By the end of the Grade 12 course, students will have the skills needed to excel in college level literary analysis and literary interpretation of academic writing and prose. Topics covered include: How to Analyze a Text and How to Maintain a Formal Tone. Prerequisites: Submit a writing sample.

College Prep Course

The College Preparation Course is designed for students getting ready to apply to college. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully apply to their top universities. In this course, we also plan, write, and revise college essays and college statements.Topics covered include Finding the Right Fit, the Common Application, Standardized Testing Strategies, Financial Aid Made Simple, and many others. Students will also receive a letter of recommendation from their instructor. Space is limited.
